Ashtanga Yoga

You will learn to practice and teach an entire yoga system with different sequences throughout the week. Our method is based on the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and on the teachings of our yoga teacher Larry Schultz. It has strong roots in the old yoga tradition but is modern in its approach with the famous Rocket Yoga. You will learn the necessary tools and skills for your own self trasformation as well as teaching students with different needs about the many benefits of yoga. Our daily yoga practice is our foundation: we teach what we practice and we practice what we teach.

Nicaragua is a tropical country with an exotic Latin culture, excellent food and friendly people. Our remote location is the perfect spot for an immersive yoga teacher training. Our surroundings are extraordinary, just in the middle of a natural reserve: we can promise you beautiful sunsets, clean air, a fantastic ocean, sunshine, wild life and a peaceful atmosphere.  Despite the remoteness we have easy access to San Juan del Sur and Managua and we can always offer you affordable package prices including accommodations on the beach, delicious home cooked and healthy food.

Our Seva Mission is bringing yoga off the mats out into the world to aid in preserving, growing and protecting our planet earth and its inhabitants. Our yoga teacher training community collaborate and assist the local community to restore and conserve the natural ecosystem of flora and fauna in the region of El Ostional.  Deforestation and the destruction of endangered species pose great threats to the ecosystem in this area and we are constantly working in different projects to help restore and protect.

Edwin is a E-RYT with Yoga Alliance US and SYT teacher with Yoga Alliance UK. This accreditation demonstrates excellent standards as set by Yoga Alliance UK. He has been teaching yoga since 2006. Together with Catarina he is the owner and funder of Ashtanga Yoga Nicaragua and the manager of the Seva projects with the mission to restore and save the natural eco system in the region of El Ostional.

Edwin is a passionate senior Ashtanga Yoga teacher who loves to practice and teach the Rocket series. He has studied in depth yoga philosophy and he holds a degree in restaurants and cooking – which of course makes him an excellent cook for healthy food. Edwin teaches in Swedish, Spanish and English. He trained directly with Larry Schultz from 2005 – 2009 and partnered with Larry in opening It’s Yoga Stockholm during the same years.ya-badge-seniorteacher-blue

Bringing your yoga passion off the mat will help you serve globally .”

Nicaragua far exceeded my expectation. The training was very well rounded and structured. The teachers Kelli and Edwin are incredibly supportive and have the training down to and art. I really feel I am leaving here with the knowledge and training I need to be competent and successful yoga instructor. I also feel that I was able to grow spiritually through the philosophical aspect of the training. The food was absolutely incredible and the staff made sure we where happy and healthy. I can honestly say it was money well spent and I would recommend the training for everyone. Stephanie

To come to the YYT Nicaragua has been the best decision I ever made. To practice every morning with the sound of the ocean was an amazing feeling. It was an incredible journey to myself with this amazing support and knowledge of Edwin and Kelly. The fresh Food every day from Angelina and her crew was more than delicious and I can`t imagine how to survive in the future without this yammi Oatmeal with fruits after the morning practice. I`m very grateful for this wonderful experience. Ulrike

My time here has been nothing short of amazing and has been one of the coolest things I’ve done so far. The location, yoga, food and people have made this place so special. I think 2 practices a day was the perfect amount. I always felt energized and strong. Edwin and Kelli, you both are amazing teachers. As a vegan I was most worried about the food. However there was always plenty to eat. Overall I loved it here and give the program a 10/10. Shayna

Review on a 1-5 point scale.

  • THE STAFF: 5
  • FOOD: 4 (less fried food perhaps)

  • SUMMARY: Would I recommend? YES! Would I come back? YES

I loved my time here at EL OSTIONAL. I am a very relaxed and go with the flow person and this YTT was very relaxing and easy going. There is a daily schedule and I found it to balance well between structured time and free time. The food was great. The accommodation met all my living needs. I was never uncomfortable here. Overall I really enjoyed my time here, it was amazing and I feel that I have gained the knowledge that I needed to grow in my practice and as a yoga instructor. Thank you. Kelsey

Yoga Practice: The Modified Primary Series and The Rocket where both very challenging, and I feel like a grew a lot in my ansan practice. Teaching: Both Edwin and Kelli where awesome with a lot of knowledge. I personally learned a lot. Accommodation: The rooms where always kept clean. Beds could be better but not a big deal. Food: Consistently good meals throughout the month. Kevin
